I loved this song. Seriously. I loved it so much I always requested it at school dances. In hindsight, it probably wasn’t the most appropriate song for a bunch of 11-year-olds to dance to, but its trumpet and “oh-ah” hook was impossible to ignore.
Listening to “Creep” now, it’s hard to believe that the song is seventeen years old. The same goes for the video – so long as you can forgive a few flannel outfits. It’s interesting how “Creep” captures the trio as all knowing smiles and mischievous winks – especially since so much drama was happening behind the scenes. It’s to their credit that, in this video at least, they were able to put that behind them and produce one of the glossiest, impeccably produced R&B hits of the era.
