Nothing screams early 90s quite like an Ace of Base video.
In “All That She Wants,” we find our Swedish foursome lounging around a living room, performing the most depressing song about casual sex ever. (At least that’s what I think – some people remained convinced that it’s about a woman who literally wants another baby.) While one of the Ace of Base guys busts out a clarinet (!), our protagonist mopes and gets ready for a night out. She blows out the candles in her room and prepares to be, in the words of the song, “the hunter,” not “the fox.” We see a whole bunch of candles again and then – wait a second, how did this song become such a huge hit?! Was it the faux-reggae beat that reeled everyone in? Because it definitely wasn’t for this video where nothing happens.
